Threats, Intimidation, and Rape Apologism at Evergreen

This letter was written by the President and Vice-President of the Evergreen State College, and was sent to all faculty, staff, and students. My response is included below, and was sent out over the school's listserv.

Olympia Activist File Civil Claim for Rights Violation

On November 13, 2007, thirty-nine women were arrested while taking part in peaceful protest against the Iraq war at the Port of Olympia, WA. While being detained at the Olympia City Jail, police and jail correction officers violated the civil rights of women by forcing them to remove their clothing to sheer underwear layers and remain exposed to police, jailers, staff and inmates for a time no less that three hours.  The Olympia police officer who took the lead, stated feeling angry about the anti-war protests that night and volunteered to process those arrested.
