Class War on the West Coast Docks

DECEMBER 28 – Following the nationally coordinated police evictions last month of Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Oakland and encampments across the country, on December 12 the Occupiers struck back. Ports up and down the West Coast were blockaded, from Seattle to San Diego and the port of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico. In Oakland, California, where 30,000-40,000 marchers shut down the port on the evening of November 2, this time hundreds blocked port entrances in the early morning and several thousand demonstrators occupied the dock area in the evening, shutting down shipping for the entire day. Key terminals were blockaded in Seattle and Portland. Solidarity rallies were held from New York to Honolulu and Tokyo, Japan. Despite a barrage of hostile propaganda in the media, opposition from union bureaucrats and heavy police repression in some places, overall the blockade was successful – this time.

Labor Rally Against Budget Cuts in Olympia

Three men doing traffic control for the labor rally in Olympia, WA on April 8, 2011. Dave, on the left, had been out of work since March. Ronny, in the middle, had been out of work since November. Bud had been out of work since January. All of them would typically work construction, probably on houses. They were volunteering to direct traffic as their way of showing solidarity with other workers who were also out of work. "Sure, when we're all building a house, the unions might argue with eachother," Dave told me. "But you need all of them to get it built."

Three month SeaSol fight puts thieving restaurant out of business

Here is the story of Seattle Solidarity Network's latest fight, in Becky's words:

For the entire month of September I worked for Ciro D'Onofrio at his Italian Restaurant in Renton, Bella Napoli. During this time, Ciro was verbally abusive towards his employees and even customers. He would throw temper tantrums in front of tables and claim we were out of things on the menu simply because he did not feel like making them. He would also hire different people to come in and help out on a weekend night with no prior experience and without training. This proved to be difficult, as I was the only server, bartender, hostess, food runner, and busser.

Boycott Bartell Drug's for attacking people needing to use the bathroom at 3rd and union st (seattle.) . dont be fooled by activists who are think its more important to support fascist "local "business becuz its simply local...Buy local loyalties are not justified when an owner applies for homeland security grants then starts attacking locals to enforce a "no bathroom " policy... Healthcare includes bathroom use.. and bartell drug gets tax breaks, tax write-offs,and pharmacuetical subsidies based on the premise they "benefit the local community>
